Health & Safety Company Continues to Grow

Maricopa, AZ (PRWEB) February 9, 2008 -- Safety On Site Training (SOST) has been an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center for almost six years. Until recently, the center only offered Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR courses. This month, the company will begin to offer Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) classes as well.

"This is a step in the right direction for our company," said Michelle Allcott-Mills, owner of SOST. "We were continually being told by medical professionals that these advanced classes are hard to find in our area, so we are happy to take on the expense and responsibility of making these classes available.

When most people take a CPR class, they are learning basic life saving skills. The new courses being offered by SOST are for the paramedic, trauma nurse, or doctor in need of a more advanced skill level for handing life or death emergencies.

The program director for these advanced classes is Aaron Chamney, who has been an active Paramedic/Firefighter for 16 years and also an instructor for SOST and has been in the pre-medical field for 26 years. Chamney is excited to be a part of this new program from its inception. "Bringing these programs to Safety On Site Training is going to take this company into the top-level arena of providing advanced training and safety education," says Chamney.

In order to take an ACLS or PALS class, individuals must have some level of medical training and hold a current BLS for Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification, which will be renewed at the same time one attends an ACLS or PALS class. All certifications through AHA are valid for two years. The advanced care classes also includes a certificate for ECG and Pharmacology, which is a plus.

In addition to AHA classes, SOST also offers OSHA courses, American Health & Safety Institute (ASHI) courses and holds the first-ever Arizona state contract to supply Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to all Arizona state offices. As if that wasn't impressive enough, Michelle Allcott-Mills was just named the 2007 Small Business Owner Of The Year for Pinal County. She began the company alone, nearly six years ago, and has grown it into a company that requires her, Chamney and Director Of Operations, Beth Moser, in order to facilitate all of the many health and safety facets.

"The addition of the ACLS/PALS program is very exciting for our company," said Moser. "So far, we've only offered a couple of classes, but the response has been tremendous, proving there really was a need for this type of training in Arizona."

The company also plans to begin offering Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS), which is a BLS class, but one that hasn't been offered at SOST previously.
