BlogHer Launches Fundraising Initiative With GlobalGiving to Support Women's Health Issues
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) April 8, 2008 -- BlogHer, Inc. (www.blogher.com), one of the top women's online networks and the Web's number-one guide to blogs by women, today announced the launch of a fundraising initiative for maternal health projects via the GlobalGiving Web site that will culminate on Mother's Day, May 11. BlogHers Act is a global activism initiative driven by BlogHer community focusing on diverse aspects of maternal health, and the GlobalGiving program is a key component in this year-long initiative designed to make a difference in maternal health worldwide.

The initiative launched by BlogHer will feature five projects from the GlobalGiving Network focusing on the most crucial issues in global maternal health for which the BlogHer community will raise money, including: * Improving education for young girls in Burkina Faso * Empowering HIV positive women in South Africa * Ensuring appropriate healthcare for displaced refugees in Darfur * Funding a mother and child health clinic in rural Nepal * Helping Afghan women with pre- and post-natal care BlogHer's contributing editors will be blogging about each of the five projects on the BlogHer network and encouraging support and donations from the community and beyond. BlogHer will follow the progress of the initiative on its site (http://www.blogher.com/bloghers-act-donate-now-save-womens-lives) through Mother's Day on May 11, 2008.
